Welcome to the H3Uni Resource Library

Whatever your interest in transformation and your particular field of operation, this Resource Library is relevant to increasing your effectiveness and that of those with whom you work.   The methods here will help you to transcend limitations and release untapped potential.   They are intended to grow a commons of shared practice, where the more widely they are shared, the more effective they will become, so please use and share whenever you can.

How to use the resource section

The Resource library is organised a bit like a recipe book.   The main content that you will use is organised into methods, each with a corresponding Facilitation Guide, which are like recipes.  Each H3Uni method is designed to support a particular team thinking task and the Facilitation Guide gives you instructions in the role of facilitator of the process.

These Facilitation Guides are intended for you to prepare a specific event, and to use ‘on the go’ in a live session.   However, to be an effective facilitator you need to understand what it is you are doing and develop your skills.   So you will find for each method there is also a Tutorial that explains how the Method works.  Study the appropriate Tutorial before using the Facilitation Guide.

In addition to the Tutorials there are also a set of Exercises in the underpinning thinking that you need to be able to bring in to inform the group thinking and adapt the method to particular situations.   Like basic cooking skills, you need mastery of these if you want to be ready for any situation.

Where to start?

H3Uni Practice Framework

If you are new to using these resources this tutorial will get you oriented to what we mean by an H3Uni method and how to use all the resources.

Visual Facilitation

All the H3Uni methods rely on a foundational skill of visual facilitation.   You need to be thoroughly familiar with this material before using any of the methods to get the full value out of them.

H3Uni Core Methods

H3Uni methods all work together and support each other.   There are five that are foundational to all the others.   We recommend that you practice these first.   Each of them can be used on its own for many situations, and then can be built upon and enriched by the others and with the use of the Additional Methods.

Additional methods

Here you will find a growing body of systems and futures tools which supplement the core methods.   The field of futures and systems practice is huge, and our intent here is to provide a powerful set of methods, where that each one is carefully designed to fit in with all the others and will cover most of the situations you will encounter until you are ready to invent your own as an advanced practitioner.

Coming soon will be more material on Navigational Scenarios to enhance the Dilemma Navigation method, and provide further powerful approaches to handling uncertainty.

Join H3Uni Practitioners Forum – A Collaborative Learning Group

In response to growing interest in connecting and deepening our shared practice, we’re launching the Practitioners Forum in Autumn 2024. Grounded in the principles of an action learning group, this forum will create a space for practitioners to learn, share, and support one another. The timing will be monthly or bi-weekly, depending on the needs of the group. As with other H3Uni study groups, participation is free, though donations to support our work are welcome. The direction and focus will evolve based on the interests and needs of those who join, making it a truly collaborative journey. If you’re looking to deepen your practice with H3Uni methods and explore them further alongside fellow practitioners, subscribe to stay informed about this exciting opportunity!
